Sobre "Journey Through the Universe from Nerpio"

🌌 A Magical Night of Astrotourism in Nerpio

If you’ve ever been left speechless while gazing at the stars, this experience is for you. Join us for an unforgettable evening of astronomy in the heart of the Sierra del Segura, from the spectacular Mirador del Embalse del Taibilla, just 8 km from Nerpio (heading toward El Sabinar). Surrounded by nature and under one of the darkest skies in Spain, we’ll embark on a journey through the Universe guided by experts from the Astrocamp Astronomical Observatory.

🔭 What will the experience include?

Our adventure begins at dusk, when the last colors of sunset still linger on the horizon. With the naked eye—and the help of laser pointers—we'll identify the most prominent constellations of the summer sky: Hercules, Cygnus, Lyra… and learn to navigate using the stars, just as ancient travelers once did. It's an intimate, emotional first contact with the night sky—perfect for those new to astronomy.

Then, the center’s telescopes take over. Through them, we’ll observe distant and fascinating celestial objects:

  • 🌌 The Hercules Globular Cluster: a dense swarm of over 100,000 stars, like a diamond suspended in darkness.
  • 🌀 The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51): a stunning spiral galaxy located 23 million light-years away.
  • 💫 The Dumbbell Nebula and the Ring Nebula: breathtaking remnants of dying stars that reveal the life cycles of stellar objects.
  • 🌍 Deep-sky exploration: we’ll journey across the observable universe, from our stellar neighborhood to galaxies millions of light-years away, learning how cosmic matter is structured.
  • 🪐 The giants of the Solar System will be with us

And just when you think you’ve seen it all... the night sky delivers its grand finale: Jupiter, with its satellites dancing around it, will shine bright in the early night hours. Observing it through a telescope is one of the most awe-inspiring moments—especially for first-timers.

☄️ If the skies are clear, we’ll also enjoy the rare visit of a visible comet this summer. We'll dive into fascinating concepts like orbits, Kepler’s laws, dwarf planets, and minor bodies of the Solar System—blending science, storytelling, and wonder.

🎁 A special bonus for participants…

Those who wish can return the next morning for an exclusive daytime visit to the Astronomical Observatory, where we’ll expand on the night’s content and answer any questions that may have come up during your stargazing experience.
